Serving in the RN, I have lived in the Portsmouth area for 6 years and have been involved with Solent Utd for 5 years, as a manager and more recently as Chairman before taking over as Secretary in 2007.
I have an extensive football background and play an active role in the Royal Navy FA as coach for the U-18 team and have qualified to FA Level 2.
My intent is to provide a safe, structured environment in which young people can play their chosen sport.
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
